Contractor terms.
For photographers, videographers and editors who work with Book Your Shots. Version 2026-10-26-v2 · Updated October 26, 2026.
Working with us
You work with Book Your Shots as an independent contractor, not as an employee. You choose which job offers to accept, use your own equipment and are responsible for your own taxes. Send us a completed W-9 before your first paid job; we issue a 1099 where the law requires it.
Job offers and pay
Each offer shows the job, the area, the date and your pay before you accept. The first photographer to accept is booked. Your pay for a job is the amount shown when you accepted it. It is normally 60% of the shoot, plus 100% of any travel fee and 100% of tips. Pay is sent weekly through Stripe, our payment partner, for jobs we delivered to the client in the previous week (Sunday to Saturday); you set up your payout account once in your dashboard. Video editing is done by our in-house editors unless we ask you to edit; when we do, the editing pay is included in the offer. Once you accept, arrive on time with working equipment and upload your files to your dashboard within 24 hours after the shoot ends: photos edited (color correction and retouching), and video either edited or as raw footage, as you chose when you applied. Your dashboard shows a countdown for each job, and late uploads are flagged to quality review.
Ownership of the photos and videos you create
You assign to Book Your Shots all rights, title and interest, including copyright, in the photos, videos and other files you create on Book Your Shots jobs, from the moment they are created. This lets us give each client the rights we promise them, including personal and commercial use. Your pay for the job covers this assignment. If any right cannot be assigned under the law, you give Book Your Shots an exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to it, with the right to license it to the client and others. You confirm the work is your own and that you will sign any document reasonably needed to confirm this.
Use of the photos and videos you create
Photos and videos you create on Book Your Shots jobs may be used by Book Your Shots on bookyourshots.com, on our social media (including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube) and in our advertising, worldwide and without extra payment. We credit you where practical.
You may not post, publish or share these photos and videos anywhere, including your own website, portfolio, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or any other platform, because a client may not want anyone else to see them. You may use a specific photo or video only if Book Your Shots gives you written permission for it.
When a booking is marked Private, Book Your Shots does not show that work anywhere either.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for your own acts and omissions on Book Your Shots jobs, including any damage to property or injury you cause. Book Your Shots is not an insurer and does not provide medical or other coverage for you. You agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless Book Your Shots and its clients from claims, losses and reasonable legal costs that arise from your work or from a breach of these terms.
Reporting a problem
Report any accident, damage or other problem on a job as soon as you can from the job in your dashboard (Help, then Report a problem), with photos and what happened.
If the client is not there
Go to the shoot address even if the client hasn't replied. If they are not there at the start time, tell them from your dashboard that you have arrived (with your location and a photo) and wait 20 minutes. If they still haven't arrived, report a no-show from your dashboard and you may leave. We review it and may pay you for the booking.
Penalties and withheld pay
Book Your Shots has sole discretion to issue a monetary penalty if you do not show up for a scheduled shoot, and to not pay, or to reduce, your pay for a job if the client reports that the work was not done or not adequately completed, after we review the case. If Book Your Shots pays a client for damage you caused, we may deduct that amount from your pay.
Disputes with clients
You are responsible for your interactions with clients. Book Your Shots may help resolve a dispute between you and a client, but has no obligation to do so.
Insurance
We recommend that you carry general liability insurance (and professional liability if you can). Upload your certificate of insurance in your dashboard with the policy end date. The certificate must name Book Your Shots (HS Media LLC) as additional insured. Once we approve it, clients see "Insured" on your profile and insured photographers get job offers first. We will remind you before it ends. Insurance may become required for all photographers later; we will tell you in advance.
Clients
Keep client names, addresses, phone numbers and files private and use them only for the job. Delete your copies once we confirm delivery. Do not sell or share the files, and do not contact or work with a Book Your Shots client directly outside Book Your Shots.
Your portfolio photos
The photos you upload with your application are used only to review your application and match you to jobs. We do not publish them without asking you first.
Ratings and your account
Clients can rate each delivered shoot. We may pause or close an account after low ratings, missed jobs or a breach of these terms. You can ask us to close your account at any time by writing to info@bookyourshots.com.
